27 Weeks!

I realize it has been awhile before I have posted anything and I have a few things to update you on. I had a Dr.'s appt last Tuesday and they checked me for gestational diabetes and I passed. My blood sugar was 127 after drinking the yucky orange glucola drink that about made me throw up. It has a lot of sugar in it. Also my hemoglobin was 13.1 meaning that I am not anemic. I passed both tests. Dr. Eastmann said that everything is looking good! Woohoo! Also I was measuring a week ahead so I guess that means that either it is a big baby or they have my due date wrong. (I am hoping the due date wrong since I am planning on having a VBAC) I also talked to Dr. Eastmann about the VBAC which they don't preform in Sioux City due to several factors that need to be in place to have them at a hospital. First of all there needs to be a 24 hour OR team, 24 hour anesthesiologist, and 24 hour OB GYN at the hospital. Sioux City doesn't have any of these. Dr. Eastmann did say that if I happen to go in labor that I could refuse a c-section and get one at St Luke's which I was happy to hear. I will still plan on going to Omaha for  a VBAC when I am dilated since it will be safer but at least I know that it is possible to have one here. I also remember when I had Jamison and it was at 2:25 am and the OR team, anesthiesiologist, and OB Gyn were here within 8 minutes for my emergency C-section so that is reassuring too.

We have been busy getting things ready for the holidays and I have all my presents brought and wrapped. Woohoo! I got the baby a little present too. He got a frog that lights up with moon and stars on the ceilling and has soothing sounds. Jamison had a similiar animal but he still uses his sometimes to go to sleep and I don't want Jamison to think that we are taking everything away from him for the baby. We have also started freezing meals and bought some newborn diapers. After Christmas is over I plan on going through Jamison's old baby clothes and washing them and getting them put in the nursery.

This weekend we have a busy weekend on tap. We are heading to Omaha to go my parents house and will be staying there until Christmas Eve and then heading back to Sioux City. Jamison is super excited to see Cousin Kaden and unwrap gifts. He has told me that Santa is going to bring him presents. Christmas Eve night we will go to Andy's parent's house for the Hanson side Christmas. Christmas morning we are having our Christmas and Andy's Parents are coming over to open gifts. That evening we will go to Andy's other grandma's Christmas for supper. Whew busy! It should be fun. We are looking forward to seeing Jamison open up gifts since he is more into Christmas this year than last. Jamison is also talking a lot more and can say sentences and count to 10. He is so much fun and we can't wait to add another little boy to our family! We are sooo excited. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and we will post some pics of Christmas soon!

Jamison's New Room!

Yes it is time to make room for our next little boy...we moved J over to what we call the toddler room. Here is a slideshow of his room. http://www.flickr.com/photos/thegouldfam/sets/72157628067853093/show/

He has done great with this transition and LOVES his new room. He has been sleeping through the night every night. We were a little worried about this transition that he would not sleep as well but he has done great.

22 weeks!

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile but I wanted to tell everyone that our u/s was great! We found out that we are having a boy and that he is healthy. He waved at us during the u/s and it was super cute.

I have been feeling great lately and all my appts are turning out normal. In a couple of weeks I will get checked for gestational diabetes which I didn't have with Jamison so I am crossing my fingers that I won't have it with this one as well.

Last weekend we moved Jamison over to his big boy room and the theme is airplanes. Also last weekend we got the baby's nursery ready. We re-used all of Jamison's bedding and pictures on the walls and the baby will have frogs and ducks. We had chose a gender neutral them when we were pregnant with J so we could use it for all of our children.

I did fly to Ohio a couple weekends ago because my grandma (dad's mom) passed away. It was a sad funeral but I was glad that I went. It was good to see some of my extended family too.

PS In the pic I am 20 weeks so I feel like I have popped even more since then!

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

17 Weeks

As of last friday we are now at 17 weeks! I am loving being pregnant now because my allergies are finally going away and I am feeling great with the occasional nap. =) I am also starting to feel our baby boy move which is the best feeling in the world. We had a Dr.'s appt last Thursday and they said that the baby is growng normally according to my measurements of my abdomen. Also the HR was 148. I was a little worried because I have only gained 3 lbs and I am hoping that is enough at this point. Dr. Eastman wasn't concerned and said that I would gain more weight later on in the pregnancy. My belly is definitely getting bigger and I am now in maternity pants.  I also declined the AFP (alpha feta protein) since our first u/s turned out well.  Next friday we have our u/s and I am super excited to see our baby again and definitively find out what we are having.

On another note we had a great weekend and got some great snapshots of Jamison while we were raking/playing in the leaves. Jamison is getting so independent and likes to do everything "by myself" as he states it. He puts on his shoes by himself and washes his hands by himself and likes to get into bed by himself. In a way it is good that he wants his independence because that will be nice when the baby comes that he is able to do more for himself. He has been going pee pee in the potty at night and is doing really well with that. Hopefully we can get him potty trained soon. Well I will update you after the u/s and let everyone know how it goes. I am a little nervous as this was when everything went wrong in our last pregnancy, but I am hopeful that everything will be ok. Until then I hope everyone has a great week.

We have a healthy baby!

I can't tell you how excited we are that we found out that we are having a healthy baby! We had our u/s on Sept 9th in Omaha with Dr. Barsoom and he said, "The baby has a noggin' " It was quite funny the way he put it. The Dr. also told us that the baby doesn't have spina bifida either. The u/s tech did check a nuchal translucency, which checks the thickness of the baby's neck, and that was normal too. Nuchal Translucency can be positive in diagnoses such as down's syndrome and other genetic problems. The baby's HR was 148 and we found out that we are having a boy! The u/s tech is 90% sure about this. We really didn't care what sex we had just as long as the baby is healthy. We were pretty excited to find out that it is a boy since we have all boy clothes, the stroller is blue and brown, baby swing is brown, etc. We also said that later on it might be kind of fun to have bunk beds in one room when the child gets old enough.

We also talked to Dr. Barsoom about a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section) and he said that they do them in Omaha. This is definitely an option since I didn't enjoy having a c-section with Jamison. Dr. Barsoom told us that they could induce us at 37 weeks after they do an amniocentesis to check the baby's lungs to see if they are mature enough to breathe on it's own. We could also stay at my parent's house in Omaha and wait to go into labor after 37 weeks and have the baby in Omaha. Decisions, Decisions. The only reason we would have the baby in Omaha is because as of right now they don't do VBAC's in Sioux City. = (

I also had an appt with Dr. Eastmann, my primary OB, and everything is good. Blood pressure was 122/60, HR 70, and urine negative for glucose or protein. Baby's HR was 148. I love listening to the baby's HR, it is the most beautiful sound in the world. My next Dr. appt with Eastmann is on Oct 14th and they will check the AFP. (This is what was positive with Isabelle but we already know that baby doesn't have any neural tube defects so I feel like there is nothing to worry about) My next ultrasound will be on Oct 21 in Omaha with Dr. Barsoom and this will be an overall look at all of the baby's anatomy. Hopefully a confirmation of boy or girl so we know for sure! = )

Right now I am 13 weeks as of last Friday and almost in my second trimester! Woohoo! I am starting to feel like I have more energy which is really nice. I have been having some allergy problems but the Dr.'s have said it is ok to take Zyrtec and Benadryl if I need to. I am a little sad knowing that I will probably only be pregnant one more time since we want 3 kids so I am trying to enjoy this pregnancy as much as I can. I will post belly pics and u/s pic soon!

Trip to Ohio!

Another great trip this summer that we did was go to Ohio for my cousin Lindy's wedding! It was so good to see all of my relatives that live in Ohio.
We chose to fly and J did great. He slept most of the plane rides but when he wasn't sleeping we kept him preoccupied with toys and crayons. The only negative thing that happened is that we got 2 flights cancelled in one day! We couldn't believe it! It was just ridiculous. We also got to go to King's Island which is an awesome amusement park in Cincinnati. Here are the pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/thegouldfam/sets/72157627534100448/show/

Trip to the Zoo

Another memorable trip that we did this summer was go to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. J loved it! He especially loved the seals, elephants, and the fish aquarium.
Also another thing to mention is that my parents moved from Ohio to Elkhorn, NE! We love having my parents so close! It is absolutely great. Here are the rest of the pics from the zoo http://www.flickr.com/photos/thegouldfam/sets/72157627036288267/show/

Jamison's First Camping Trip May 2011

We took J camping this summer back in May and he had such a great time. He loved being outdoors. WE rented a cabin in Yankton with some friends. It was a little too cold to go swimming at that time but we still had fun none the less. Our next camping trip is next weekend! Here are more pics from the trip http://www.flickr.com/photos/thegouldfam/sets/72157626783291990/show/

We are having another baby!

We are having another baby!, a photo by ajgould on Flickr.

We are super excited to announce that we are having another baby! We found out on July 16th that we were pregnant and it was 4 days before my bday so it was a great pre bday surprise. I have had one ultrasound already when I was 7 weeks and we saw/heard the baby's heartbeat. They also said that are due date will be March 23, 2012.
We are very hopeful this time that our baby will be healthy and I have been taking 5mg of folic acid which is 20 times the normal dose to prevent anencephaly/neural tube defects. We will have an ultrasound on Sept 9th to rule out anencephaly/neural tube defects so we will keep our fingers crossed!
I have been feeling really good and I haven't had any morning sickness but have been feeling really tired. We told Jamison that there is a baby in the my belly and he yells into my tummy "Hello baby, " it is so cute. He will be a great older brother.
Right now I am 10 weeks pregnant and can't wait to find out what our next baby will be! I have a feeling that it is another boy due to my cravings. I have been wanting steak and potatoes, watermelon, pasta, pizza, and ice cream just like I was with Jamison. We will find out in October....

Jamison's 2nd Birthday Party!

I do apologize for not writing for awhile...we have been really busy this summer! Now Jamison is 2! I can't believe my baby is a toddler. Earlier this summer we changed him from a crib to a toddler bed because he was crawling out of his crib and he is doing really well with that change. He loves his new converted bed.
I took him to the doctor for his 2nd bday well child check up and he was 22.5 lbs (in the less than 3rd percentile) and 33 inches (in the 25th percentile for his age) the Dr. isn't concerned about him because he is growing along the same curve.
Some things that Jamison does as a 2 year old: he says about 100+ words, hw can say 3 words together, he lands on both of his feet when he jumps, he is getting really good at using utensils when eating, he is climbing on everything, he can go downstairs and upstairs without any difficulty, and yes he is starting to go pee pee in the potty! He goes on the potty every night before bed. I may start trying to get him to go during the day now too.

For his 2nd bday party we had an elmo theme and it was a pool party. We got Pizza Ranch and my sister Kelly made Monster cookie cupcakes! Yummy! We had about 25 people there and J got a lot of really nice toys including a trike! He had such a great time. Here are pics from the party http://www.flickr.com/photos/thegouldfam/sets/72157627409719359/show/

This weekend we are going camping in Yankton for Andy's 31st bday and there is nothing more than J loves than to be outside. He is so excited to go camping. We will post pics when we get them uploaded.

Jamison is 18 months old!

It must be all that great food mommy has been feeding him. He is the most amazing boy and we are so lucky to have him.

He is starting to say a lot more words like, oreo, ding dong, purple, paper, door, more, bye-bye, uh-oh, duck, frog, banana (nona), to name a few. He sleeps through the night when he is not teething. He currently has two molars coming on upper and lower left gums. Poor little guy! Even if he does wake up a little oragel and tylenol do the trick and he is back to bed in 5 minutes.

Jamison is also understanding more commands now to. He will bring me his shoes if I ask, he will sit down when it is time to eat, and if I say we are going bye-bye he gets really really excited.

He does get seperation anxiety from time to time when I drop him off at daycare or go to four seasons to work out. He cries and says momma and it tears at my heart but I know after I leave that he will be ok.

On Valentine's day we had a little date at Play all day which is an indoor gym with inflatables, ball pit, and tons of toys. After we ate lunch at pizza hut and then it was time for his afternoon nap. While he was sleeping I roasted a chicken for supper with the fixings. We had such a great time and I have some pictures from V-day and I will post the website.

I went back to work for the first time on Monday and it went pretty well. I missed everyone and they had missed me while I was gone. It was kind of tough because there are two women that are pregnant and a third that is due any day now. I still wish I was pregnant with Isabelle and she was healthy. I am happy for the women, but wish that my situation could've turned out differently. I know this a normal part of the grieving process. I have also found a friend that lives in North Carolina that had the same thing and we have been e-mailing back and forth. It is nice to talk to someone who has been through the same thing I have too.

Mexico!

In late December when we found out our prognosis with Isabelle, we decided to book a trip to Mexico for just the two of us! We had an amazing time. We stayed for 6 days and 5 nights. We received a couple's massage on Tuesday morning last week and it was amazing. It was so relaxing! We also went snorkeling on the mesoamerican reef near Puerto Morelos where we stayed. It is the second largest reef in the world and we saw things like sea turtles, angel fish, lobster, star fish, and a squid. It was by far the best snorkeling I have ever had.

The resort we stayed at was Ocean Coral and Turquesa in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. It had 6 restaurants, 4 pools, and the night life was awesome. We listened to karoake one night, danced a few nights, and watched grease put together by the staff at the resort. We definitely needed to get away and this was the perfect get away.

Our parents watched Jamison. Steve and Roxanne watched J for the first part of our vacation and my parents watched Jamison the last part of our vacay. He did amazing! He slept through the night for them every night and played all day! He missed us but had a ton of fun with grandma and grandpa!

Also I go back to work on Feb 21 and when I go back I am so excited to be part time. I know that I will not regret this decision because I have loved spending my time with Jamison while I have been off of work. It will be the perfect balance. He will get to spend about 2-3 days a week at daycare with his buddies and the rest of the week at home with me! I will work 3 days a week. I do realize that we have been through a very difficult time lately but it has made me realize how lucky I am to have the things we do have. We are all healthy, we have a wonderful little boy, a great marriage, and a wonderful home. I am still a very blessed person and all the prayers from people have helped because we really feel at peace knowing that Isabelle is in heaven!

Remembering Isabelle Grace Gould

Isabelle Grace Gould 033

Well we did go into the hospital on January 5th and around 10am they gave me the first prostaglandin to induce labor. It took about 4 prostaglandins that were spaced about 6 hours in between for us to deliver our sweet angel. The side effects from the drugs were pretty rough. I would not wish this kind of delivery upon anyone. However on Jan 5th all of our family was in the room and I told the nurse that I wanted to listen to her heartbeat by doppler and we could hear the strongest heartbeat ever and that is the last time I will ever hear her heartbeat. My water broke around 10 am on Jan 6th and labor pretty much stopped after that. At around 2pm my doctor came in and he said that it was time to push and I pushed and Isabelle was born into this world. There was no heartbeat or breaths at that time. Andy and I got to see her and she looked perfect to us and she always will be. She was 8 inches long and 5.6 oz. The nurses took her away and cleaned her up and brought her back in a basket with blankets all around her and a hat that fit perfectly on her little head. We held her for such a long time and memorized every part of her so that we could remember her forever. Our families were there and they got to see her also. We passed her around and everyone cried and looked at her beautiful small body. Then after some time we said our goodbyes and gave her back to the nurse.
We had her body cremated at a local funeral home and held a memorial on January 11, 2011. It was at the Memorial Park Cemetary and we had a lot of family there supporting us. Our pastor came and was absolutely amazing. He always seems to know just what to say. Isabelle's ashes were in a casket and Andy and I placed a single pink rose on top of her casket. It was a beautiful ceremony! Andy, Dana, and I went and got coffee afterwards and then we went back to the cemetary to see where she was buried at. We will put a marker on at a later date. There was a reception after the memorial at Roxanne and Steve's house, where a social worker from St Luke's that knew Roxanne, had donated a ham, scalloped potatoes, and chips and salsa.
I miss her so much and still don't understand why she was taken away from me at such a young age. She had her whole life ahead of her. I guess these are things that I will never understand...I do have some poems that I absolutely love and they have helped me a little bit.

I didn't have to look into your eyes to fall in love with you.
I didn't have to hear you cry to know you loved me too.
I didn't need to hold your hand to cherish you forever.
Within my womb, we shared our hearts, you touched my soul.
You sweetened my spirit.
You gave me memories I will always hold dear. Yes, my heart aches since you departed too soon.
But a mother's love does not end with death. For you are my child, Forever my love is yours.
~Unknown

The world may never notice if a snowdrop never blooms,
Or even pause to wonder,
If the pedal falls too soon.
But every life that ever forms,
Or ever comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.

The little one we long for
Was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
Every beating of our hearts
Says that we do love you.
~Unknown

God's Flower Garden
Sometimes we can't quite understand Our Great Creators way
When he takes a life so young And leaves one withered, old and gray.
Whose life work seems finished, Perhaps is waiting for the call
While that life so young and tender
Held so much love for us all.
Then sometimes I get to thinking,
Perhaps this world down here below
Is just a flower garden,
Where God's flowers live and grow,
And perhaps when God is lonely ,
Like us, He likes to roam
In His garden gathering flowers
Just to beautify his Home.
Tho' He takes the full-bloom flowers
Drooped and withered that need His care
Still He needs a bud or blossom,
To scatter with them here and there,
So He takes a few choice blossoms
Just the rarest He can find
And because God needs them up in Heaven,
Must comfort loved ones left behind.
~Jeanne Parker

Revelations 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

I know that Isabelle has no pain and suffering and all she ever knew was love. She is up in heaven meeting up with all of our relatives that have passed away and that she is safe with Jesus. I love you my sweet angel Isabelle Grace Gould!

Duke University Study

I am so excited that Duke University called me back today! We are going to participate in a study for anencephaly babies and neural tube defects. The University is sending St. Luke's kits to draw Andy and I's blood and take a 20cm sample of skin from the baby for DNA testing. We won't get our results back, however we will be part of a huge research study that will hopefully find out what causes anencephaly so we can prevent it in the future. I hope that no other family has to go through this and they find a way to prevent it. Here is a link to Duke's research for anencephaly.... http://www.chg.duke.edu/diseases/anencephaly.html

We are going to induce labor tomorrow. I will go in around 6 to 7am and they will give me prostaglandins every 6 hours until the baby is born. I am excited to meet my little girl and I really hope that I get to spend some time with her. I hope that she is alive for a few hours so she will get to meet her mommy and daddy. Please pray for us tomorrow as it will be a very difficult day.

Christmas 2010

In the afternoon we went to Grandma Rosemary's house for a turkey and ham dinner with the fixings. Oh and we found out that Jamison likes pickled herring! I don't even think I would touch it but he really seems to like it. Then we opened up presents. It was a great Christmas and I have pics of it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/thegouldfam/sets/72157625570056787/show/

The weekend before my parents were out here and we celebrated our Christmas and it was a ton of fun too. It was good timing cuz the day they came in town was the day we found out our results on the ultrasound. It was great to have my family here during that time.

Jamison loved Christmas too and he got some pretty cool toys. Among his faves are going fishing in the wood boat for fish with a magnet pole, a tent with a tunnel, bear pet pillow, guitar, drum, tools and tool bench (although he still seems to like daddy's tools more). Jamison has really helped me a lot through this situation cuz all I have to do is look at him and he makes me smile. He has been learning some new sign language and new words recently. He knows the sign to more and can say it. He loves the word ball and can say baba, hot, cold, bath, and bye bye are among the words that he says. He also associates the words to their meaning. He is the best little boy and we are the luckiest parents in the world to have a son like him!
